  • MESSAGE: June 13, 2009 "I went to school with some Meleneks. But I am not really sure of the spelling, it could have been Mylenek. and I think that's it.
Let me say, I am 57. the one my age was Joanne who died a couple years ago. She was living in canyon country CA. at the time of death. She was married and had 2 children. She had a older sister Sue, last I heard was living in Maui Hawaii. The boys names were Leon. (had a twin sister MaryAnn I think). Bill (Bilko) Last I heard was in Washington State. Jim was or is in Hollywood and worked for Norman Lear at one time in audio, you can see his name in the credit on shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons and One day at a time. They lived in Highland Park Mi when I knew them around 1966-1970." Don Stidham

  • MESSAGE: April 7, 2009 "Dennis, The death certificate arrived today and I thought you might like a copy. I could not get them to release the cause of death certificate, but at least I know now that this is the right Ethel. I requested the Social Security Application, as well. I will let you know when it arrives." April Cothran

April, That's great! We now have an official tie as kin. Thank you very much for the copy of Ethel's Death Certificate. I am looking forward to seeing the SS Application. Cousin, Dennis Chadra artlover@chadra.com (grandson of Florentyna Mlynek Chadra) (second cousin of Ethel Mylenek)

  • MESSAGE: March 24, 2009 "Dennis, Thanks you so much for the info. I am going to check into those documents. I was looking for them in Illinois, not Florida. That is a great lead! My grandmother (Patsy Janas Mylenek) was named Patricia Jane Bruhn at adoption. Although they sometimes referred to her as Patsy. .... I hope you will enjoy the pictures and feel free to pass them on to the family." April Cothran

  • MESSAGE: March 24, 2009 "Dennis, From looking at the tree, Ethel Mylenek must of had Patsy before she was married. She married Barney Lenit, but never had any children from what I have found. Barney was still living at home in 1930 and listed as single. Mary Anne is getting information from Dorothy is probably the best bet. Ethel was still living in WV in 1920 so she must have moved to Illinois after that. Sorry I have not gotten back to your sooner. I have not worked on this much, but do check the site periodically. You can pass this info on to April." Carrie Gamrat

  • MESSAGE: March 24, 2009 "Dennis, Thank you for your help. I attached pictures. Please let me know if you hear anything from Maryann. You can forward these pictures to her if you like. It seems like these folks are up there in age and I would like to try and confirm this info, if I can." April Cothran

April, I received an email from cousin Carrie Gamrat (nee. Mylenek / Mlynek) March 24, 2009: April, you may want to apply for the following documents 1.] & 2.] for more information on Ethel Mlynek / Mylenek Lenit. I definitely believe we are related. • MESSAGE: March 2, 2009 "Dear Dennis Chadra, I stumbled upon your website: http://www.chadra.com/mlynek.htm Please let me know if you would like any information about Mlynek's." Regards, Mike Mlynek
    Reply:
Mike, I am always looking for more information on the Mlynek family. I recently received an email regarding Ethel Mlynek whose daughter was adopted in the early 1920's in Chicago. Ethel's siblings changed the family name to Mylenek and wound up outside of Detroit and her parents stayed in Oak Hill, WV where they are buried. She was a cousin of my father. My grandmother was Florentyna Mlynek Chadra.
I don't know if your Mlynek side is related to our side. But I have more information on the http://www.scarbrowv.com website I host. A Sister site is http://www.eccleswv.com
Please send copies of any early photos and history that you have.
It is nice to hear from you. Dennis Chadra artlover@chadra.com

  • MESSAGE: February 26, 2009 "April Cothran, It was a pleasure talking with you today regarding the Mlynek / Mylenek Family Tree (see .doc Attachment) Both the Hadra (Chadra) and Mlynek families came from the Alwernia & Wieliczka (Krakow, Galacia Poland area) showing their last residence as Michalkovice, Czech Republic, under the Rule of Francis Joseph, Emperor of Austria. They lived over one year in Michalkovice and had to travel through the Czech Republic and Germany to get to Port of Bremen. Both families went straight to Carlisle / Scarbro, WV. (see http://www.scarbrowv.com & http://www.eccleswv.com)
The Mlynek family stayed in Carlisle, WV into the 1920's and we have since found out that they moved to Michigan and changed the spelling of their last name to Mylenek. John and Mary Mylenek, parents of Ethel Mylenek, lived and died in Oak Hill, WV. Most of Ethel's siblings moved to the Detroit area and the Hadra / Chadra's moved to Chicago.
Please fell free to contact me anytime. Thanks for the documents.
Dennis Chadra artlover@chadra.com (grandson of Florentyna Mlynek Chadra) (second cousin of Ethel Mylenek)

  • MESSAGE: February 24, 2009 "Dennis, I just found out that my Grandmother is adopted. We found the adoption papers in her piles of stuff and it looks like she was adopted from Ethel Mylenek, Cook County, Illinois, Feb. 9, 1925. I am attaching a copy of the document.
I have a copy of a Dept. of Health Certificate that shows a Patsy Janas Mylenek dated Feb. 26, 1925 indicating the birth date of my Grandmother, so I think her name was Patsy Jane and then her adoptive parents changed it to Patricia Jane. I would love to know more about this family name, where it originates, etc. Could you help?" April Cothran
