August 2, 2001" "Dear Dennis, It was a pleasure to read your letter of July 20, 2001 about your research of Mlynek's genealogy. You certainly know what you are doing and I wish you full success in your research. Unfortunately, I am afraid that I cannot help you. I came to the USA in March 1977, from Czechoslovakia, together with my wife Eva, who died in 1990, and sons John Jan Mlynek (born JULY 1969) and Peter Dennis Mlynek (born JULY 1964). Both of them were born in Prague.
I was born in Holesov, Czechoslovakia, in 1936., about 60 miles south of Ostrava. My father was born in 1911, in Zopy (small village near Holesov) and his father in another small village Dolni Ves, also close to Holesov, in central Moravia. From the stories from my childhood, I vaguely remember, that also my great grandfather lived in Moravia, but I do not have slightest idea where he was born, but no one in our family was a miner.
Your letter has been inspirational for me, maybe during my next trip to the Czech Republic I will try to find deeper roots of my origin. It was never important for me, but it is possible that it will become important for my grandchildren, so why not to help them now. Although we do not seem to have any family connection, our family enjoyed reading the names in your family tree.
Ludvik ( the Czech spelling of my name), Marie ( my Czech daughter-in- law), Mary (my American wife), and my two grandsons Charley and Matthew Daniel . Who knows, with a new grandchild expected in October maybe there will be a Catherina or Stephen?
Please let me know the results of your research, maybe you will find that we are from the same family. Best regards and good luck, Ludwig and Mary Mlynek (my wife had to have some non-substantial additions, like writing about the names of our unborn grandchildren)." Ludwig Mlynek l_mlynek@yahoo.com

"Dear Dennis, I read your families chronological data and am sorry to say we
are not related in anyway. There are a significant number of Mlynek's in the
city of Detroit. How did your family pronounce their name? We say Milnek.
How this came about I don't know. Certainly is not phonetically possible. I
dislike being called Mleenek. Good luck in your investigation!"

- MESSAGE: July 24, 2001 "
I reviewed with much curiosity your Mlynek family search material. I also
had one of my first cousins on Mlynek side look it over. Unfortunately, none
of the names mentioned brought back any recollections.
Also, I never heard of our family having resided in West Virginia. We did mention your letter to one of our remaining aunts, Carrie DeGrazia (nee Mlynek) and will forward the letter to her.
I'm sorry not to have more encouraging news for you especially with all the work it took to put together." Thomas A. Mlynek TMilnek@aol.com
