- MESSAGE: November 30, 2008 "I was wondering if you happened to
come across a Stephania Adamczyk in your studies. My father in law is
Harry Valentine Sobczak. He is the son of Stephania Adamczyk
and Zygmund Sobczak. Stephania's father's name was Kastanti
(no idea of spelling...sorry). We know that they came from Krakow. I
would love to locate any relatives and take my father-in-law to Poland to
meet his family. I am grateful for any help you may provide." Sincerely,
Tess Sobczak
- MESSAGE: September 21, 2008 Subject: Adamczyk "Dear Friends,
Would you know anything about one of our class-mates from 1950-1953 at East Sr. High School in Pawtucket, RI? [Known as Tolman High today] We just had our "55th" reunion, couldn't locate "Joey" who also used the name "Joey Adams". His date of birth would be about 1933-1935 - he lived in a trailer park near Narragansett Race Track on Newport Avenue, it closed sometime after that. Hope to hear from you." Marjorie Black San Antonio, Texas
- MESSAGE: June 22, 2008 "I am really needing information on
my great-grandfather; Johann Kowalczyk. He came over in 1900 from
Bremen, Germany. please respond. He married Cathryn Abramszick. we
think that the name is mis-spelled. We also think that Mary was a
sister to Johann. We have hit a brick wall." Phillip Robbins

- MESSAGE: March 1, 2008 Re: Adamczyk, Slodyczka and Kowalczyk
family ties in the Mizerna, Maniowy and Nowy Targ Poland
locations.
"Hi there Dennis, it is Kasia Pearce here, David Pearce's wife. I am Polish, was born in Zakopane and lived most of my life in Mizerna. I saw your email and thought I would write to you. You ask about very common family names in our region. I have just looked into the telephone book and found about 3 people of each surname you gave just in Mizerna (we have got about 500 people living in our village). In Maniowy (about 3000 people), which is neighbor village there are many more people having these names.
I don't know if there is any way we could help you without you being here and giving some more details. Many people from southern Poland emigrated to the United States, so this fact doesn't make it easier to find some particular family. As far as I know there are old books held in a parish church, with some data, but it is mainly about births and christenings, marriages. Have never seen them and don't know if they are available for anyone to look into them.
Do you speak any polish? That would definitely make it easier to look for this sort of information :).
As far as I know my family doesn't have anyone in it that would have below surnames, but I might be wrong. Will ask my 90 year old grandma and see how much she knows. Ok, that is all what I wanted to write for now. Sorry for not answering you last time you wrote to us, but we are normally very busy with our little business." Kind Regards Kasia Burak-Pearce
